The greatest documentary ever made:
Bill Whittle Explains The Tea Party.

...it is clear, however, that the Legislature and the people may not choose to deny a fundamental constitutional right as a means of collecting revenue. "`One's right to Life, Liberty, and property * * * and other fundamental rights may not be admitted to vote; they depend on the outcome of no election.' A citizen's constitutional rights can hardly be infringed simply because a majority of the people choose that it to be."
2005: It's all over. The above is now null and void. You can forget about your rights. They are gone. The "Patriot Act" gutted the bill of rights. The "Supreme Court" put the final nail in the coffin with the total reversal of private property rights. If the state (acting on behalf of "the majority") decides it's more beneficial "for the majority" to own your property, then that is what happens. They take your property. (June 23, 2005, 545 U.S. 469 Kelo v. City of New London New London, Conn. or download a zip file of the pdfs here) What is even more amazing about this case is that the property was transfered from citizens to a corporation, Pfizer. Basically the government and supreme court took property from people and give it to a drug company. Yes, they had to pay for the land, but at what valuation? If a person grew up on a home, what is the value of that home they want to keep? Furthermore, after this court decision, the city of New London tried to charge the property owners 5 years of "back rent!" Think about what kind of evil mind it takes to try to further punish people for standing up for their rights.
UPDATE Not only did the court take the property away from the rightful owners against their will, but Pfizer, the company that "won" in court, NEVER DEVELOPED the land. There is no business there employing people and paying taxes on a facility or wages. So the entire case was a shame. Not only was the property taken but the people who did the taking did not fulfill their agreement. All those homes are gone and the land is now an empty lot and no one has righted the wrong in the Kelo decision to this day.
